TOPEKA (KSNT) - Topeka's new cat café is marking a big milestone after opening up this past summer. Toni Fowler and April Liang opened the Topeka Cat Café in July with a business focused on letting people have some down time with cute cats while also helping the animals find new homes in the community. The women are marking their 100th adoption to date on Oct. 16 with an announcement marking the state of a prize giveaway ending at midnight on Oct. 24. "We wanted to celebrate our 100th adoption with a giveaway," Liang said. "We've had so much support from the community, especially on social media from our followers." New QDOBA opening soon in north Topeka People can take part in the giveaway by heading to Facebook and either commenting on this post from the Topeka Cat Café or sharing it. Prizes include a month of unlimited visits, a free visit to the cat lounge inside the café and gift baskets. Liang said it has been "pretty surreal" since opening up in Topeka this year. She and Fowler have both enjoyed a large amount of support from locals visiting their new business and adopting their cats. "It's really heartwarming to know we've been able to help so many cats reach their forever homes," Fowler said. The pair are optimistic moving into 2025 with the number of adoptions they've been able to help make happen so far. They also wanted to give a shoutout to everyone who has helped support their business so far and to their partners at Team Kitten. Fowler and Liang encourage people to visit the café even if they don't want to adopt a cat. People can enjoy the company of the resident cats, buy merchandise or take part in some events like Tai Chi or yoga.
