(Courtesy: RI DEM) NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — An angler from New Jersey reeled in real big fish in the Ocean State earlier this week. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) announced that Vincent Simms caught a record-breaking tautog in Newport on Monday. Simms' tautog measured 33 inches long and weighed 22 pounds, according to the DEM. The record-breaking catch was certified by Quaker Lane Bait and Tackle. If you think you've caught a state record, the DEM suggests bringing the fish to an official weigh station for confirmation.
