EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) - Authorities in Edmond are asking residents to be on alert to a phone scam telling people their adult child is in trouble with the law. Police say, reports received from people confirm a man identifying himself as DetectiveChris Cook from the Edmond Police Department claiming their adult child is in trouble with the law. The scammer continues saying that they can keep it off their child's record by sending money (Walmart vouchers) and telling the caller to stay on the phone while they get the money. Edmond Police says, this is a scam, hang up on them and there is no need to call to report it.
