Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — Two men have been indicted in a manslaughter and attempted car theft case that occurred back in August. According to information from 22nd Judicial District Attorney Collin Sims, 20-year-old Tedrine Jones, of New Orleans, and 17-year-old Emon Starks, of Waggaman, were indicted for manslaughter in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Stephen Sampson, as well as illegal possession of stolen things and attempted theft of a motor vehicle. Woman shot during Mid-City armed robbery: NOPD Jones was also indicted on aggravated flight from an officer, while Starks was additionally indicted on a charge of illegal possession of stolen firearms. Tedrine Jones (left) and Emon Starks (right) (Courtesy: 22nd Judicial District Attorney's Office) Officials with the Slidell Police Department said that, around 1 a.m. on Aug. 24, officers received a call reporting a suspicious person who was allegedly breaking into a vehicle in the 1300 block of Town Center Parkway. On scene, a second call reported gunshots fired from a black SUV nearby, at 1640 Town Center Parkway. Officers reportedly tried to stop the SUV, but it fled before three occupants exited the vehicle and tried to get away on foot. Man arrested in LaPlace shooting investigation Two of the suspects, identified as Starks and 17-year-old Johvon Victor, were detained in that incident. When officers went to clear the SUV, they found one person dead with a gunshot wound. Investigators determined that the four suspects allegedly went to the Slidell area to steal cars, and that the owner of the car they were reportedly trying to steal fired shots at them, hitting one of the suspects.
