MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An extended stay motel on American Way was closed Wednesday after the it was declared it a public nuisance. Memphis Extended Stay at 4300 American Way has been the site of nearly 800 police calls since August 2022, including at least three homicides, three dead-on-arrival calls, overdoses and several armed robberies and assaults, the D.A.'s office said. Memphis Police began an investigation, and the D.A. presented to the case to a judge, who ruled the property a nuisance. Authorities said several arrests were made and "a significant quantity of drugs" was confiscated.
