PLAINFIELD, Ind. -- Police recovered over 180 pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs following a traffic stop this week on Interstate I-70 near Plainfield. Officers with the Plainfield Police Department were patrolling the Plainfield exit near I-70 Tuesday when they reportedly observed a passenger truck commit multiple traffic violations. PPD said officers proceeded to conduct a traffic stop on the truck near the 68-mile marker of I-70. Image provided by Plainfield Police Department. The K9 then alerted the responding officers to the possible presence of narcotics emanating from the back of the truck. Officers observed a black 50-gallon work tote in the back of the truck bed that reportedly contained several bags of suspected methamphetamine. PPD said officers also located a large black trash bag containing a cardboard box. When officers looked inside the cardboard box, PPD said they found additional bags featuring suspected methamphetamine and other narcotics. A total of 187 pounds of methamphetamine and around three pounds of fentanyl pills were recovered from the truck, according to PPD. Officers subsequently placed two male occupants under arrest and transported them to the Hendricks County Jail where they were preliminary charged with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute a narcotic drug.
