GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — With less than two weeks remaining, both the Harris and Trump campaigns know what's at stake if they don't win North Carolina. The message is the same coming from both parties: get out and vote.   North Carolina voters could shape this election, and both parties are focused on getting people to the polls.  The Democratic party is focusing on talking to voters face to face. Republicans say they’ve had an increase in voters showing up at their headquarters in Guilford County.  “Double, triple, quadruple the number of people that we had in 2020 are coming through the office now asking for candidate information,” Chairman of the Republican Party in Guilford County Chris Meadows said. Both sides put information for voters on doors, by phone and by email. They're doing whatever they can to win over last-minute or undecided voters.  Both parties are maximizing efforts to get people to the polls.  “Our messaging card to voters is, 'Only voters can make the change that they want to see. Voters have the voice. Voters have the power, and if they’re not voting then no change gets made at all,'” Chair of the Democratic Party in Guilford County Kathy Kirkpatrick said. “We’ve probably knocked on 100,000 doors here in Guilford County. We left door hangers for those that are not at home and mailings. We’re just trying to get people out to vote,” Meadows said. Voter turnout tends to be higher during presidential election years. That's what drives a lot of people to get out and vote. Both parties want to remind voters other races are also important.  “When they say all politics are local, they mean that. It’s the local people that affect your lives more than the federal,” Kirkpatrick said. “What happens in your community happens to you and your family. The rules and laws that are passed locally are what we have to live by,” Meadows said. While both parties are ramping up their texts and emails, be aware of scams.
