CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A local European-style dessert bar and café is set to appear on a YouTube series that showcases local and independently owned restaurants. Carmella's Café and Dessert Bar will host the team at America's Best Restaurants, filming for a short highlighting the history of Carmella's and some of their most popular items. Customers are invited to drop in during filming on Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to grab their favorite dessert and be a background cameo. To celebrate, Carmella's is offering two $25 gift cards to those who follow the details on their Facebook page. Brian Solari was working in Charleston's bustling restaurant business when he noticed customers heading to a separate spot for cocktails and desserts. This is when the idea for Carmella's was born. In 2015, Carmella's, named after Solari's Italian grandmother who taught him to cook, opened at 198 E Bay Street. A second location opened in Greenville at the beginning of 2024. "[I want] long-term marketing, I want to build a brand. Shows like this support the long-term branding that we're trying to do," he explained. The finished episode will be featured on America's Best Restaurants website.
