ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — You're probably used to the cashier at the supermarket asking if you'd like to donate to a good cause, and if you head to Wegmans between today and the end of November, you'll likely hear it again. For decades Foodlink and Wegmans have collaborated for the annual Check Out Hunger campaign, and today is the first day for this year's event. The money raised will go to Foodlink, as the organization works to feed those in need around our region. This is the 31st annual Check Out Hunger campaign which runs across 21 stores in the Rochester area, along with the companywide campaign that supports food banks throughout the East Coast. "We can transform that dollar into truckloads of food," said Mark Dwyer the director of marketing and communications for Foodlink. "The partnerships we have with different suppliers, the fact that we're a non-profit, and we're getting food from the USDA, as well. All these donations add up and we can multiply that by three." The campaign ends on November 30th.
