The County Flood Commission is focusing on clearing drainage channels and rebuilding flood control structures. Officials say the flood control berm that protects the south side of the city was not breached and that flood waters washed over the top, eroding the berm in some areas. Crews are now focused on doing repairs quickly to prepare for future rains. In August, Deputy Bryan Lassley claimed he was trying to catch up with a car he had already tried to pull over. He says the driver, Alexandria Gerard, hit her brakes which caused him to rear end her. That’s when her car propelled into a wall and killed her. According to the report, Lassley was following the car too fast and too closely to expect it to safely stop for another traffic stop. The investigators determined his actions met the definition of “reckless driving.” A spokesperson for the DA’s office said they are reaching out to other DA’s to take up the case and determine whether criminal charges should be filed. [5] National UFO Historical Records Center opens at Rio Rancho elementary school - A metro-area school is now the new home of the National UFO Historical Records Center. Martin Luther Elementary School in Rio Rancho will host thousands of documents about the aerial phenomena. The center will house magazines, periodicals, case files and military memorabilia. The space will serve as a research center, available to the public by appointment.
