A woman killed in a shooting in St. Paul has been identified as a 35-year-old, and police said Wednesday they’ve determined a carjacking and shooting soon after was related to her homicide. Officers responded to shots fired in the North End on Saturday, just after 9 p.m. They found Damara Alexis Stowers, of St. Paul, shot in an apartment on Sycamore Street between Jackson and Agate streets. She died at the scene. As a sergeant was responding to the shooting, someone waved him down nearby, in the 90 block of East Acker Street. A man had been carjacked and shot. Police believe the homicide suspect stole the man’s vehicle and shot him, according to Sgt. Mike Ernster, a police spokesman. St. Paul Fire Department medics took the carjacking victim to the hospital with injuries that Ernster said weren’t life threatening. Police had not made an arrest in the case as of Wednesday morning and are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Stowers’ homicide. Stowers’ death was the 24th homicide of the year in St. Paul. There had been 28 homicides in the city as of this date last year.
