PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Woonsocket man who is facing drunk driving charges plead not guilty in Providence Superior Court this morning. A Providence grand jury indicted Sam Adams on upgraded felony charges after a March crash that left one man dead. Sam Adams appeared in Providence Superior Court facing multiple charges of driving under the influence resulting in both injury and death. Adams was originally arraigned back in April for the crash in Woonsocket. Police said Adams was driving in the area of Bernon and Maple Streets around 10 p.m. on March 30. His vehicle collided with another, and police arrived on the scene to find a 64-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man with minor injuries, and a 71-year-old man who was unresponsive. That man, Charles Bagley, was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. Adams was indicted on these upgraded felony charges by a Providence grand jury earlier in October. He pled not guilty in court on Wednesday and his district court bail of $25,000 was transferred to superior court. One condition of Adams’ bail is that he not drive a car. Adams’ case is expected back in court for a pre-trial conference on January 9, 2025. Categories: News
