NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — North Kingstown police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing town resident. Julia McKay was last seen on Cold Springs Lane in North Kingstown on October 22 at around 6:30 p.m. During a press conference this afternoon, police said McKay stopped at a home on Cold Spring Lane after leaving her home on Armington Avenue Tuesday night, and asked for water and a flashlight from a neighbor. Police are asking residents to check their properties, while they continue with their search efforts. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, and other additional agencies are aiding in their search. Police said McKay does have a history of mental health problems. McKay currently works at McKay’s Furniture in North Kingstown, a well-known family business in town. McKay is described as a white female, 5’8″, 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a dark sweatshirt, a camouflage t-shirt, yellow stretch pants and purple sneakers. McKay is known to frequent various North Kingstown waterways. Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact the North Kingstown police at 401-294-3311. Categories: News
