EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Fire crews extinguished a fire at an old brewery in East Greenwich early this morning. According to officials, the call was received around 5:30 a.m. for a building fire. Upon arrival, smoke was showing from Linesider Brewing Company, which was unoccupied and under construction. The brewery was owned by retired Patriots player Dan Koppen, and permanently closed in July. Mutual aid was called for West Warwick to assist in the response. The firefighters found heavy smoke conditions and fire inside the walls at the front entrance to the building. The fire was quickly extinguished. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
