U.S. Coast Guard rescues one person from a disabled boat in Wisconsin

SAXON, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Wisconsin say one person needed to be rescued by the United States Coast Guard after their boat was disabled while out on the water Monday afternoon.

According to a release from the U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes, Bravo Zul of the United States Coast Guard Station Bayfield responded at 4:36 p.m. to an area of Saxon Harbor for reports of a disabled vessel.
Officials say that due to connection via cellphone being poor and weather conditions deteriorating, they entered into a distress phase.

The Station Bayfield crew was able to arrive on the scene and safely tow the 16' vessel to Saxon Harbor.
Coast Guard officials are taking this incident to remind those planning to venture out on to the water to ensure that they have multiple forms of communication and that, if needed, the U.S. Coast Guard can be reached via CH-16 on a vessel's marine radio.
