(WFRV) - The Wisconsin State Patrol announced that they're looking to hire additional troopers and inspectors. Troopers and inspectors who get hired will become members of the 71st and 72nd recruit classes. Recruits are assigned to different parts of the state to keep the highways safe for all who travel. One man dead, another injured after wrong-way driver causes head-on crash in Outagamie County "We are looking for applicants who want to make a positive impact in our communities and support the State Patrol’s mission of public safety," State Patrol Superintendent Tim Carnahan said. "As law enforcement officers, we have the opportunity to save lives and create a safer Wisconsin." State Patrol officers can also serve in other specialized roles, including as pilots, K-9 officers, crash reconstruction experts and inspectors. Some units focus on combatting human trafficking or drug issues as well. The recruit classes vary, as the 71st is intended for individuals new to or with limited law enforcement experience. Recruits will begin their training at the Academy on July 14, 2025. The 72nd Recruit Class is for those with experience, who have been certified or employed in law enforcement. Those recruits will complete a faster training program which starts at the Academy on July 28, 2025.
