FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Community Harvest Food Bank pits eight local universities against each other Wednesday, challenging each institution to donate thousands of pounds of food to feed local families. The 10th annual U Can Crush Hunger competitors include Huntington University, Indiana Tech, Indiana University Fort Wayne, Ivy Tech, Manchester University, Purdue Fort Wayne, Trine University and the University of Saint Francis. According to Community Harvest Food Bank's website, Trine University took first place last year with its donation of 31,400 pounds of food. The competition runs from Wednesday to Nov. 8. Donations suggestions include peanut butter, canned meats, canned tuna, canned veggies and canned fruits. Participants can also help support the school of their choice by donating monetarily.
