WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - The 2024 presidential race is in its final sprint before Election Day and both campaigns are ramping up their efforts in key battleground states. Vice President Kamala Harris is trying to convince voters she would be a president for the entire country, while former president Donald Trump is sticking more to his base. "I will stop the invasion of criminals into our country,” said Trump. Former President Trump focused on immigration in Florida and North Carolina as he tries to gain support from Latino voters. "I just saw a poll that we're actually leading with Hispanics. That's never happened before,” said Trump. Trump said if elected he can address the southern border without Congress. "It's called extreme power. You have extreme power. You can just with by the fact you say, 'Close the border,' and the border is closed,” said Trump. Trump killed a bipartisan border security bill in Congress and supports mass deportations of millions of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. "He has been an obstacle to fixing this problem. My proposal includes strengthening what we must do to ensure that we have an orderly and humane immigration system and that we fix what has been broken for a long time,” said Harris. Vice President Harris told NBC News she would sign that bill as president which would in part increase the number of border patrol agents and create a higher standard for asylum eligibility. The vice president said she hopes policies like these drive voters to the polls. "Let me tell you what's going to help us move on: I get elected president of the United States,” said Harris. Vice President Harris will travel to Pennsylvania Wednesday for a CNN town hall while Trump will campaign in Georgia.
