COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia-Richland Firefighters were able to contain a fire that happened on Tuesday afternoon, said the department. According to Columbia-Richland Fire Department, firefighters contained two sheds on fire on Hunting Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. on Oct. 22. Firefighters said they arrived to the scene to find the sheds fully involved with flames threatening two homes. Occupants of both properties were quickly evacuated and the fire was brought under control. The homes suffered only exterior damages due to the heat and no fire spread to either interior. The sheds were left destroyed, said CRFD. One person was treated for minor injuries at the scene by Richland County EMS and released. The fire has been ruled an accident and was caused by hot coals that were discarded near one of the sheds. CRFD said a reminder for people if you plan to grill please allow your coals to cool before discarding. Categories: Local News, Richland Tags: Columbia-Richland Fire Department
