BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Local fire departments, working with the American Red Cross of Minnesota and the Dakotas, want to make sure you have a smoke alarm in your home. If you can't afford to purchase and install a smoke alarm, they will do it for you for free. It's part of the Minnesota-Dakotas Home Fire Campaign. Volunteers install free smoke alarms, create escape plans and share fire safety information as part of nationwide "Sound the Alarm" events to help save lives. For more information on whether you qualify for the free alarm and installation, go to this web page to learn more and sign up. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
