Person hit by car in Baton Rouge, officials say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- Officials said a pedestrian was hit by a car in Baton Rouge early Wednesday morning.
Emergency medical services officials said the call came in around 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 after a person was struck near the intersection of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Celtic Drive.
EMS said the patient was in stable condition.

October is Pedestrian Safety Month. According to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, there were 147 pedestrian fatalities and 1,234 pedestrian injuries in the state in 2023.
Highway safety officials said, "It is critical for all road users to remember to share the road with bicycles and pedestrians."
