Baton Rouge Police: One in custody after pursuit ends with multivehicle crash

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- One person is in custody after a short police chase in Baton Rouge ended with a crash involving three vehicles.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said a pursuit started around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 in the 3200 block of Highland Road after an officer attempted a traffic stop due to reckless driving. Officers said the pursuit ended in the 1100 block of Highland Road.
The driver is accused of running multiple red lights. Police said the fleeing vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, which led the driver to lose control before going into the southbound lane and colliding with another vehicle.
The driver was charged with aggravated flight, possession of marijuana, aggravated criminal damage to property and reckless driving. The identity of the driver is unknown at this time. Police said the driver would be booked into the EBR Parish Prison.

Emergency medical services officials said they were called to the crash scene but were cleared with two refusals. Police confirmed that no one was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department also responded to the scene of the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
