BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Two 13-year-olds in Ridgecrest were detained after leading police on a pursuit and crashing a stolen vehicle in the desert. The incident was reported around 1 a.m. on Tuesday near North Norma Street and West Weiman Avenue, according to Ridgecrest police. How many days of triple digit weather did Bakersfield have in 2024? Officers observed a vehicle driving without headlights and attempted a traffic stop. The 13-year-old driver of the vehicle did not stop and a pursuit began. During the pursuit the 13-year-old driver exceeded speeds of 100 mph, ran through stop signs and drove on the wrong side of the rode, according to Ridgecrest police. Police say the teens were arrested in September and booked into juvenile hall for stealing a different vehicle.
