Two teenagers detained after pursuit, crash: Ridgecrest PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Two 13-year-olds in Ridgecrest were detained after leading police on a pursuit and crashing a stolen vehicle in the desert.
The incident was reported around 1 a.m. on Tuesday near North Norma Street and West Weiman Avenue, according to Ridgecrest police.

Officers observed a vehicle driving without headlights and attempted a traffic stop. The 13-year-old driver of the vehicle did not stop and a pursuit began.
During the pursuit the 13-year-old driver exceeded speeds of 100 mph, ran through stop signs and drove on the wrong side of the rode, according to Ridgecrest police.

Ultimately the teenagers crashed into a bush and attempted to run through the desert. The teens were ultimately detained.
Police say the teens were arrested in September and booked into juvenile hall for stealing a different vehicle.
