Latino Professional Leadership Institute to be launched at Bay Path University According to the National Weather Service, weather conditions on Wednesday mean fires could spread quickly and they're warning not to light any open outdoor fires, and to be extra careful with smoke or burning materials. On Tuesday, there was a brush fire in Turner Park. The fire department says that a campfire was left smoldering and spread to the surrounding area. A total of 80 square feet was burned before they were able to put it out. Campfires are not allowed at public parks, and police are warning people to be careful with any outdoor cooking on Wednesday. The National Weather Service says that the combination of low humidity, high temperatures, high wind, and dry conditions mean wildfires can spread more quickly. This whole month, our area has only seen just over half an inch of rain. There are several preventative measures you can take to protect yourself from the risk of wildfire. Avoid outdoor cooking, such as grilling, and be extra careful with smoking materials. Make sure all smoking materials are completely put out and disposed of properly. You can also clear any brush away from your home to mitigate the risk of a fire spreading close quickly.
