Connecticut firefighter dies battling brush fire

BERLIN, Conn. (WWLP) - A firefighter from nearby Wethersfield died on Tuesday while battling a brush fire in Berlin, Connecticut.

Officials say a utility vehicle rolled over on a steep part of the mountain. Robert Sharkevich, 66, died in the crash. He was a retired Hartford Firefighter.
First responders escorted his body in a procession to the medical examiner's office in Farmington, where he was met by Wethersfield firefighters, saluting him on his end of watch.
Three other firefighters were injured, but they are all expected to be okay.
The brush fire has burned more than 100 acres in the last three days in Berlin. Crews from Maine are headed in Wednesday morning to help after dozens of local departments joined the effort Tuesday.
