PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WROC) — The Section V soccer playoffs began on Tuesday and it didn't take long for the Sutherland boys soccer team to advance to the Class A quarterfinals. The Knights scored five goals in just over seven minutes as the Sutherland defeated Midlakes/Red Jacket 9-0. Junior midfielder Jack Woods tallied a hat-trick in just the first six minutes of action. The Knights led 5-0 at the half. Fourth-seeded Sutherland (10-4-2) will take on fifth-seeded Olympia in the quarterfinals on Friday, October 25th. Olympia defeated Eastridge 3-0 in their first-round matchup. Last year, Sutherland lost to Aquinas 2-0 in the Class A Championship Game. The Li'l Irish are in Class AA this season.
