ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – UNM wide receiver Luke Wysong has experienced extreme highs and lows during his time as a Lobo. He has been part of the worst statistical offense in the country, and now he is on one of the best. Entering the week, the Lobos rank No. 11 nationally in total offense. The team currently averages 470.3 yards and 37.4 points per game. That is a stark contrast to Wysong's first two seasons where the Lobos averaged 228.0 yards and 13.1 points in 2022 and 234.9 yards and 12.2 points in 2021. "I have been through so much here and it kind of capitalized my growth and it kind of solidified all the things that I was thinking," said Wysong. "We were actually able to do that. For everyone to feel that level of gratitude is something that I hope everyone can experience one day." Individually, Wysong has played a crucial role in the offense's success. He currently ranks No. 11 nationally in receiving yards with 663 through seven games. "I think Luke is solidifying himself that he's one of those guys, he's one of the better receivers out there in college football," UNM quarterback Devon Dampier said. "Those are things that I have dreamed of ever since I was yay high," Wysong said. "So, really just being able to indulge and live in the moment is really rewarding in a sense because I have been through those dark, grieving hours where I didn't know if the light was ever going to shine. So it's just good to feel."
