Event Date:  October 26, 2024 - 3:30pm By Ronni Hannaman As Nevada celebrates its 160th birthday of becoming the 36th state what could be more patriotic than having members of the United States Air Force Mobility Rock Band a part of the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City on Saturday, later performing around 3:30 pm at McFadden Plaza following the annual beard contest. This is the third year the rock band has performed declaring being a part of the Nevada Day festivities as one of their favorite venues. As No. 87 in the parade line-up, the band will be performing on the flatbed and truck generously provided by Miles Construction. They are sharing the float with the Navy Fleet Reserve. This year the Nevada Day theme is “All for Our Country,” and the United States Air Force is certainly an important part of this theme. The appearance of the USAF Mobility Band is being sponsored by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and is a part of the much larger United States Air Force Band of the Golden West stationed at Travis Air Force Base located just outside of Sacramento. They are a high-energy pop and rock band performing a wide variety of chart-topping hits and represent over 325,000 Air Force professionals serving around the world. The talented performers change as past members are transferred thus the singers and the repertoire remain fresh and lively. The performers this year includes Technical Sergeant Ryan Manzi, Staff Sergeant Nate McDonald, Staff Sergeant Alex Valdez, Staff Sergeant Alycia Cancel, Senior Airman Colten Mortensen. Airman First Class Marvin Calderon, and Airman First Class Cameron Jones. — Ronni Hannaman is the Executive Director of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.
