See where Southern University football's secondary ranks in FCS for passing yards allowed

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Through the first seven weeks of the season, Southern's secondary is one of the best in the nation, ranking No. 1 in the SWAC and third in the FCS, only allowing 122 passing yards per game.
A pleasant surprise to Jaguar fans since the secondary replaced four of their top five producers from a year ago. The addition of Southern Lab alum Herman Brister III and Elijah West has certainly helped fill those holes in the secondary.
Southern has yet to allow a team to throw for over 200 yards against them, and in the past two weeks, the Jaguars kept Texas Southern and Alcorn State under 100 passing yards.
"Those guys communicate well, and they care about one another. When you see them together, they're always talking, even off the field. They have a group talking on the sidelines, even on game day. They watch film, they complement one another, and those guys trust one another," said head coach Terrence Graves.

Saturday's road game against Florida A&M will be the Jaguars' secondary hardest test this season, as the Rattlers average 239 passing yards per game.
