MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) – Bluffajo Cosmetics is asking the community to donate beauty products for Breast Cancer Awareness Month that will be donated to a local shelter. “We spend so much money on items that we intend on using,” Bluffajo Cosmetics owner Maisie Dunbar, said. “But in up two years later, three years later, we haven’t even opened.” Strathmore Square development opens in North Bethesda Now, Dunbar is encouraging her community to clean out their beauty closet. “What we’re doing here at the Women’s Business Center is asking people to drop off gently used or brand-new products so we can give it to the Stepping Stones Shelter here in Rockville, Maryland," Dunbar said. She said she’s done similar beauty supply drives in the past, but this one is even more special. “I lost one of my cousins at a very young age,” she said. “She was like a sister to me. So, for me, breast cancer awareness is important,” Dunbar said. She said she is hoping for a wide range of donations. “Clean deodorant,” she said. “Maybe sanitary napkins if people have it, cleansing wipes, lotions, shampoos.” Gaithersburg presented with $1M check for roadway project The items will be donated early next month. “The outreach that we have is undeniable,” Stepping Stones Shelter director of community engagement, Marcedes Brant, said. “It’s amazing. So, we’re super supportive of her and her organization, and everyone in our community for always supporting us and our residents.” The Clean Out Your Beauty Closet supply drive goes until Thursday, Oct. 31. All donations can be brought to 36 Maryland Ave., Unit D, in Rockville.
