FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center recently launched a unique program specifically designed to screen women who may have a high risk of developing breast cancer. “We're trying to identify the women who are at high risk for developing breast cancer over their lifetime, and that requires multiple different specialties in that mix,” said Dr. Vassi Gardikas, a renowned breast surgeon at Community. “It requires a genetics program which we have. It requires care providers such as myself who can see patients and evaluate their risk." It helps women recognize and mitigate their risks and then combines specialists and multi-disciplined experts together in one location. “The high-risk clinic is where you would visit with practitioners to identify a risk and see if there's additional screening that you would require and hopefully guide you to some prevention tools,” Gardikas said.
