KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thousands of voters in the Show Me State went to the polls Tuesday for the first day of no excuse absentee voting for the November election. The Whole Person at 37th and Main is one of six different early voting locations in the city portion of Jackson County. When, where does early voting start for Kansas City, Missouri metro voters? Kansas City Election Board (KCEB) Co-Director Shawn Kieffer was seen telling voters there that there were two of their other five early voting locations with shorter wait times. The wait time at The Whole Person was about an hour around noon. The two locations with shorter lines were the Palestine Senior Citizen Activity Center near 34th and Prospect and the KCEB Office at 4407 Blue Parkway, which is a unique location.  "We have two sites, and that's what sort of makes us special," Kieffer said in an interview with FOX4, talking about their KCEB Office. "So, we send people, we try to divide up groups to get people in and out quicker." The KCEB Office opens at 8 a.m. During the lunch hour at The Whole Person Tuesday, the line snaked around the first floor of the building. Crest Ridge hopes celebrity support helps it win national contest "It was well worth coming today, I think, coming a little early," Kansas City, Missouri resident Barbara Doak said. Doak said she waited in line for about 45 minutes. We asked her whether she was surprised this many people came out to vote early. "At first, yes, I was thinking maybe not too many people realize this is the first day to vote, and they won't know where to go or whatever, but I was wrong," she continued. "Other people were listening to the news too." Another voter named Art Gough rode his bike to The Whole Person on Tuesday.  "It was worth the effort," Gough said. "I mean, parking here is usually the biggest problem. A lot of places, parking is a big problem at election sites." Kansas City, Missouri resident Larry Dingman is happy Missourians can now vote early without an excuse two weeks before Election Day. "I can remember when they didn't do that, and it was a real pain to have to show up and sign an affidavit that you would be out of the state on Election Day," Dingman said. Prairie Village votes to ban short-term rentals Kieffer said he was surprised to see so many people on day one of early voting without an excuse. "We were hoping maybe by mid-week, early next week, we'd see these kinds of lines," he continued. "We're very excited, and we're set up to handle as many people that want to come."
