FAIRCHILD, Wis. (WFRV) - A man in western Wisconsin was arrested after a police chase when he surrendered after getting promised he could smoke a couple of cigarettes. According to the Fairchild Police Department, on October 19 around 5:50 p.m., officers tried a traffic stop on a person. The driver reportedly fled immediately. Officials say that during the police chase, it was learned that the driver had a felony warrant out for his arrest. The driver reportedly was going 70 mph in a residential and throwing items at the squad cars during the chase. 33-year-old Wisconsin man dies in rollover crash on State Highway 26 The driver also allegedly physically rammed the squad car an estimated five times during the pursuit. He then allegedly stopped at an intersection and threw a 'hatchet-like' object at the squad car before trying to flee. He eventually fled into a residence and locked himself inside, according to the release. Police say that he agreed to surrender when he was promised that he could smoke a couple of cigarettes. The man was identified as Kegan Fogleson. The release said that he has a long criminal history with multiple violent offenses. He was taken into custody and sent to the Eau Claire County Jail. Court records show that Fogleson was officially charged with three felonies and two misdemeanors.
