BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo man was indicted Tuesday morning on nine charges after kidnapping a victim at gunpoint and shooting another victim near a youth football game back in September, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced. Officials said at 11 a.m. on Sept. 15, 29-year-old Rashaan Mallory, while armed with an illegal gun, allegedly forced a female victim into the backseat of a vehicle on the first block of Moselle Street. He then allegedly stole the victim's phone, which prevented her from calling for help. Mallory is accused of driving with the victim for approximately one hour before stopping in a parking lot on the 100 block of Koons Avenue. Officials said while in possession of the illegal gun, he allegedly ordered the victim to exit the vehicle and walk with him to a youth football game at Emerson Park. Mallory is accused of trying to rob two more victims near the football game. He allegedly stole a second female victim's phone and tried to steal chain necklaces from a male victim on Koons Avenue, the district attorney's office said. It's alleged that Mallory tried to cause the death of the male victim during the robbery by intentionally firing several shots from the illegal gun. The victim, a 31-year-old man from Rochester, was hit twice by gunfire, officials said. The man was the coach for the Rochester team, the Flower City Panthers. He was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he was treated for leg and foot injuries. Mallory allegedly drove away with the first female victim inside the vehicle after the shooting. When officers tried to stop the suspect on Koons Avenue and Sycamore Street, he allegedly refused orders and reversed the vehicle in an attempt to flee, but then crashed into a street sign, officials said. He was then taken into custody. Police allegedly recovered a loaded handgun from the vehicle, which was placed into evidence. Mallory allegedly escaped from police custody while being transported to Buffalo Police headquarters, the district attorney's office said. He then allegedly ran toward Niagara Square after exiting the police vehicle, but was quickly apprehended. He is charged with the following: one count, second-degree attempted murder one count, second-degree kidnapping one count, first-degree attempted assault one count, first-degree robbery one count, first-degree attempted robbery one count, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon one count, first-degree escape one count, second-degree assault one count, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property Mallory is scheduled to return on Nov. 12 for a pre-trial conference. He remains held without bail.
