MINOT, N.D. (KXNET) — Minot is looking for a new way to update an old parking ordinance. Currently, the ordinance regulates the parking of heavy vehicles like RVs, trailers, and more. and owners are only allowed to park on the street for a maximum of 48 hours. Magic City staff members are now hoping that the City Council approves a new ordinance. Leaders say there is an exception, which states that no one should park their trailer weighing more than 8,000 pounds between sunrise and sunset. Although some owners can park in their driveway, it begs the question: what happens if they don't have one? Two injured in Mercer County crash "Not everybody has that option or the ability," says Minot City Council Member Paul Pitner. "People still like to go camping, and maybe that is their only option — to park it in the street when they come home from a weekend camping, and they can't get their camper unloaded right away. They have to restock for the next weekend and put it into storage, and now, we are going to be putting another burden on top of these people. I don't think I can support it." The current motion failed with a vote of four to three. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Today's Top Stories SIGN UP NOW
