Marie’s desire to continue her family’s culture and healing traditions is embedded in her experiences in medical studies and industries. After training as a scientist through her contributions to her alma maters’ cutting-edge research labs, Marie worked as a research consultant in the skincare industry, where she learned about the process of manufacturing excellent, medically effective products from preliminary research to getting medicine into the hands of those that need it most. La Bohemia started as a gift for her friends and family to enjoy, with Marie creating natural skincare products drawn from her education and injected with love. As an invested community member, Marie sat on her town’s farmer market committee for a year. Between organizing stall layouts and attractions, her fellow peers couldn’t help but applaud her fledgling product line. “I went ahead and set up a stand to market-test my concoctions so that I could speak to my community and find out what they really needed in their lives.” As she developed what would soon become La Bohemia Natural, these principles of community care never left her sight. To this day, she coproduces and co-develops her products alongside her community through constant dialogue about what her customers need, rather than merely displaying what Marie thinks is best. With today’s skincare-conscious society, the industry is slowly beginning to adapt to a more ethical landscape. Whether it be ingredients that are harmful to humans, animals, or the environment, Marie is breaking ground in the strides toward health beyond the individual. “People are becoming more aware of the details behind what they use to treat themselves,” explains Marie, “And La Bohemia Natural is at the forefront of a changing industry, not only through our ethical, natural, and dermatologically-tested products, but our entire ethos of traditional healing and community care.” Along with its rejuvenating product line, La Bohemia has also launched Private Label+ and direct sales initiatives that seek to foster a newer, better beauty and skincare industry that reflects what customers desire. Private Label+ enables entrepreneurs and small businesses that are aligned with the wellness industry such as yoga studios, beauty salons, and barbershops to create their own luxury private label brands with the help of Marie’s team of three formulation chemists and a biomedical scientist, and La Bohemia’s product line. Private Label+ provides both long-term relationships with La Bohemia’s intensive research and development process or immediate formulation through the brand’s extensive body of previous work. While La Bohemia is currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and supplies the USA, the company has plans underway to expand across the pond to Europe. “I feel an immense sense of satisfaction to be able to produce top-quality products and confidently put them out into the world, knowing I am tending to the needs of my customers.
