We enjoyed an authentic taste of fall over the last couple of weeks, but now it feels like we've turned back the clock to late summer. Unseasonable warmth continues to grip the DMV, with a ridge of high pressure directly overhead. Clear skies led to cooler conditions last night, but nonstop sunshine is quickly pushing temperatures back up. It will be another afternoon with highs reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s, roughly 15 degrees above average for this time of year. A few clouds will roll in tonight as it doesn't get as chilly, with lows only falling into the 40s and 50s. As high pressure transitions off the Atlantic Coast, a cold front will sweep toward the area on Wednesday. This will produce a partly cloudy sky, but temperatures will remain unseasonably warm (70s and 80s) for one more afternoon. Winds will pick up and switch to northwesterly Wednesday night as the front passes, but it won't have any moisture to produce anything more than a stray shower or two across the mountains of western MD and WV. A burst of colder air arrives on Thursday as it stays breezy, with highs only reaching the 50s and 60s. Cooler and sunny conditions hang around through the end of the work week. Another cold front will arrive Friday night into Saturday, bringing a second surge of chillier air for the weekend. Peak temperatures on Saturday will be around 70 degrees before falling into the lower 60s on Sunday. Overnight lows will also tumble into the 30s and 40s once again. Much like the first front, moisture will be tough to find, and only a few stray showers will be possible during the day on Saturday before we go back to sunny skies. This long stretch of dry weather shows no sign of stopping next week, with high pressure hanging around through next Tuesday. Have a great rest of your day! 7-Day Forecast: Today: Sunny skies.
