ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The University of Rochester is addressing recent crimes happening on campus after two students were injured in an assault. According to the University's Public Safety Department, the incident happened Friday on the pedestrian footbridge leading onto the campus. They said the assault was carried out by a group of youths, one of whom was apprehended. There were at least two victims in this assault, both of whom suffered minor injuries. Chief Quchee Collins of the University's Department of Public Service sent out a statement saying he has been concerned about a recent uptick in crime on campus, adding that there have been several car break-ins. Any students on campus noticing unusual activity are urged to move to a safe location and call the Department of Public Safety. Students can contact them by calling or texting (585)-275-3333 or by picking up a Blue Light phone on campus.
