A well-known cancer clinic headquartered in Baton Rouge is expanding to Metairie. Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, a staple of cancer care in the state capitol for more than 50 years, announces the opening of its newest clinic in Metairie, located at 2800 Veterans Memorial Blvd. The clinic specializes in the multidisciplinary management and treatment of patients with urologic cancers, providing advanced care for prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancers. Mary Bird Perkins originally opened its door in 1971 in Baton Rouge as the Mary Bird Perkins Radiation Treatment Center. In 1985, the center moved to its current headquarters on Essen Lane, and in 1986, the name was changed to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The center has expanded its services to three locations in Baton Rouge, and additional centers in Alexandria, Covington, Gonzales, Hammond, Houma, Jonesboro, Metairie, Minden, Natchitoches, Opelousas, Shreveport, Slidell, Springhill, Winnsboro, Zachary, and Natchez, Miss. “We’re excited to open this new clinic on the Southshore, providing the highest level of cancer care to local patients in a convenient location,” said Jodi Conachen, COO of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. “This opportunity marks a significant step in our journey to improve access to high quality cancer care, improve survivorship and lessen the burden of cancer for patients across Louisiana.” Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Metairie will be led by a team of three physicians: Dr. Scott Delacroix, Dr. Jessie Gills, and Dr. Carrie Marquette, all renowned for their expertise in the field of urologic oncology. Delacroix and Gills are urologic oncologists, while Marquette is a medical oncologist. The center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. “Our three highly experienced oncologists have provided expert care to thousands of Louisiana patients,” said Conachen. “We’re delighted to have them continue to serve the community in the Metairie area.”
