SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Election day is exactly two weeks away and voters across the state have started to vote in person and through the mail. Massachusetts unemployment rate climbs More than 12% of registered voters in our state have already cast their ballots, and over 80,000 of them voted early, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth's latest count. More than 40% of people who requested a mail-in ballot have already filled it out and returned it. Currently, more than five million people are registered to vote in our state, and if you're not one of them, you have until this Saturday to register in time for November 5th. The last day to request your mail-in ballot is one week from Tuesday, and those ballots have to be mailed back or returned in person by 8 pm on November 5th. Early voting is happening right now, and you can vote ahead of time at your local polling center until November 1st. In Springfield and Chicopee, early voting is taking place at their respective city halls.
