Lon Horwedel-Imagn Images Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams is reportedly facing another suspension—this one for two games. According to a report from ESPN, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is facing a two-game suspension for a violation of the league’s performance enhancing substances (PES) policy. Per the NFL PES policy, a player is subject to a two-game suspension if they have a positive test result for a “Stimulant, Diuretic or Masking Agent.” This is the second time in as many years that Williams is facing a suspension. Last year, the young receiver was initially suspended six games for violating the league’s gambling policy. It was later reduced to four games. It’s a blow to Detroit’s high-octane offense and yet another setback to Williams’ career. Not only did he miss four games due to a suspension last year, but he missed nearly his entire rookie season as he rehabbed from a torn ACL suffered in the National Championship game prior to the Lions drafting him 12th overall in 2022. Williams was finally hitting his stride in Year 3 of his Lions career. Through six games, he has 17 catches for 361 yards and three touchdowns. In his previous two years combined, he only had 25 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns. Now his breakout third year will have to be on hold for the next two weeks. Assuming the suspension holds, he’ll miss this week’s game against the Tennessee Titans and the following week’s NFC North showdown with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Williams offered the following statement to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. “No choice but to take it on the chin. I’m in good spirits just ready to get back with the my brothers ASAP, soon as possible.” The suspension has not been announced by the NFL yet, and the Lions have not yet offered a comment on the situation.
