Oct 21, 2024
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M (KRQE) – University of New Mexico sophomore quarterback Devon Dampier is the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. Dampier accounted for 377 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns in a Lobos 50-45 victory at Utah State this past weekend. The victory was the third consecutive win by the Lobos and the third game in which they scored 50 or more points.
"There's really nothing Devon can't do," said UNM head coach Bronco Mendenhall. "He runs the ball really well. He runs it, not only with speed and elusiveness, but he's also physical, deceptively physical, throws the ball really, really well, very difficult to sack, extends plays, creates plays and moves our football program forward."
Dampier has over 1,700 passing yards this season. He's the first Mountain West Player to have over 1,500 yards passing and ten rushing touchdowns in his first seven starts. Dampier has nine passing touchdowns.
The Lobos are at Colorado State on Saturday. The Lobos will go into the game with a 3-4 overall record, 2-1 in the Mountain West and a lot of momentum. Their second-half comeback at Utah State was the largest in school history.
