They told officers that they had an argument and the female wanted the male to leave the residence. While the male was leaving the premises, and while officers were walking back to their vehicle, a second female followed the 23-year-old and appeared to hit him with a walking stick. While officers were walking over to the two, an 18-year-old male came out of the driveway, onto the street and swung at the 23-year-old with a machete. 18-year-old arrested after Sunday night shooting, investigation launched Chief Logan said the officer shot after repeated commands were not complied with and the man continued slashing at the 23-year-old. The 18-year-old was shot in the torso and was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been released from the hospital and remains in custody, under doctors care. Chief Logan said the 18-year-old, the woman with the walking stick, and the 22-year-old who was part of the initial abuse call, are all related. The 23-year-old had injuries to his arm, consistent with defensive wounds, and was later placed under arrest on suspicion of abuse of a family member. The officers were offered administrative leave while an administrative investigation is conducted. They have 10 and 16 years in the department and are both assigned to District 3, Pearl City. The officers were not injured in the incident.
