Columbia, SC (WOLO) –The woman convicted of killing her two children in Union County in 1994 is up for parole. Officials with the Department of Probation, Pardon, and Parole Services say Susan Smith’s parole hearing will take place in Columbia on November 20, 2024. Smith began her 29-year sentence in 1994, after she was convicted on two counts of murder in the deaths of sons Michael and Alexander. Initially Smith told investigators that a black man had carjacked her while the two boys were still inside the car, but later admitted that there was no carjacker – she let her car roll into John D.
