(COLORADO SPRINGS) -- The Salvation Army is hiring bell ringers for their Red Kettle Campaign in El Paso County. Previously, ringers were all volunteers, but now people will be paid to help carry on the holiday tradition. If you're looking to add a little jingle in your life and make a few extra bucks this holiday season, joining Salvation Army might be the solution for you. Bell ringers can pick their hours and pick from several dozen locations in Colorado Springs and Fountain Valley. "We sing and dance, well I don't really sing, I kind of lip sync, but we do a little bit of shuffle dancing, and we just have a good time out there for an hour or two every morning," said Glenn Postwalk, a volunteer with the Salvation Army. Salvation Army holding first hiring fair for bell ringers Each year the Salvation Army provides services to more than one in 15 people living in our community. The Red Kettle campaign helps keep their programs going year-round. "You don't realize how blessed you are until you see people who are down and out," added Postwalk. On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the Salvation Army is hosting its first ever hiring fair to find bell ringers for the holidays, and the job pays 16 bucks an hour. "It's actually a lot of fun and I volunteer every year instead of my kids. So we'd love for people to volunteer, but it's also for us to hire bell ringers gives people who might not otherwise have employment during the holidays. It gives them an opportunity to earn some extra money," said Jeanne Turner, Community Relations Director for the Salvation Army. The organization says Red Kettles are down significantly and they are looking to hire 100 bell ringers. "It's just one of the best organizations. When I retired, I decided to look for something that would be doing the most good, and that's their campaign," added Postwalk. As a retired mailman, Postwalk tells FOX21 News he's been a volunteer for 11 years in a row. "Delivering mail I had a lot of opportunities to bring packages and presents to families and there was always the excitement, so this is my opportunity to give a little back for all the blessings I've had," he said. The first hiring fair of the season is at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Serrano's Coffee in Monument. If you can't make it, there will be other job fairs this month.
