(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — On Saturday, Oct. 26, thousands will descend on Manitou Springs for the biggest, spookiest event of the year--the 30th Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races. If you're among the thousands who are expected to visit the small mountain town for the occasion, you might want to know ahead of time where to park and how to get there. Multiple roads in Manitou will be closed with detours in place, and it will be nearly impossible to move around the town close to parade and race time. The City of Manitou Springs is asking everyone to avoid driving near downtown from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday. The story of Emma Crawford and the original coffin race Road closures: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Manitou Avenue will be closed from Old Mans Trail to the Ruxton Roundabout All side streets in this affected area will be closed one block before they intersect with Manitou Ave. 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. Manitou Avenue will be closed from Old Mans Trail to the Ruxton Roundabout, with eastbound traffic allowed beginning at Pawnee Ave. Eastbound access will be available on Pawnee Ave., Deer Path Ave., and S Path. Courtesy: City of Manitou Springs Travel and parking: Park for free at 1675 Garden of the Gods Rd, the DMV Parking Structure, and ride one of the shuttles that run from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on race day for $5 roundtrip. It will drop-off/pick up from Hiawatha Gardens at 10 Old Mans Trail, 1 block from Downtown. Shuttles run continuous route, will arrive approximately every 15-20 minutes. Bike to the races! PikeRide is offering a free bicycle valet located in Memorial Park 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. or lock up at one of many bike racks around town. Bike to the races, get a free 20 minute Pike Ride for your next journey. Catch a ride with Uber/Lyft/Z-trip. There is a designated drop-off/pick up spot at the Chase Bank on Manitou Avenue - 484 Manitou Ave, Manitou Springs, CO 80829.
