The Lucky Duck Foundation last month hosted its Showcase Soirée, where it announced more than $3 million in new program investments to fight homelessness, and it honored late philanthropic icons Peter Seidler and Bill Walton, who had worked closely with the nonprofit. The new program investments consist of $1 million to expand employment and job training opportunities, $1 million to aid homeless youth and seniors, and more than $1 million to add detox beds and to purchase and several thousand sleeping bag coats. The Soirée was held at The Sound in Del Mar for the second time. The fundraiser is an annual entertainment and variety show meant to be fun and inspiring. It was hosted by PGA Tour Pro and NBC/Golf Channel commentator Peter Jacobsen along with sportscaster Neil Everett (formerly of ESPN). It featured live music, a live auction, awards ceremony, magic show, surf and turf dinner and many heartwarming stories.
