ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Town of Perinton unveiled plans for upgrades at Center Park West Monday.
A new, music-themed playground is in the works for the park, which is located at the town hall campus along Turk Hill Road at Ayrault Road.
According to Perinton Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna, the playground is scheduled to open in 2025 near the parking lot, restrooms, and picnic pavilion. It will be rated for children ages two through 12 and up, with features including slides, climbing structures, musical instruments, a spinning "We-Go-Round," a rollerslide, and a rain sound wheel panel.
The updates will replace the playground equipment installed in 2001. Work began with a community survey in 2023. According to the town, respondents requested inclusive play structures, enhanced accessibility, climbing structures, slides, and accessible surfacing.
The project is expected to cost $620,000 and was included in the town's comprehensive 5-Year Playground Revitalization Plan. Officials said federal grant funding could lead to future enhancements.
