Weather Forecast: Rochester record in jeopardy tomorrow?
Oct 21, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester topped out at 79° this afternoon, falling just a single degree shy of tying the record high temperature from 2007. I have a hunch we'll take another run at record territory tomorrow, too.
Under clear skies tonight, temperatures will drop into the 50s. Despite still bright moonlight, it's a solid night to be able to catch a few Orionid meteors. Best viewing will be looking southeast after midnight. Orionids can produce bright fireballs with tails that linger for a few seconds, even though meteor rates are only a few per hour.

Rochester's record Tuesday is 82°, a number we'll likely approach ahead of a Wednesday cold front. Expect more sunshine Tuesday before clouds increase from west to east Wednesday with afternoon arrival of a line of downpours. That front will also kick up 30+ mph wind gusts Wednesday, perhaps enough to start knocking down fragile leaves.

Temperatures Thursday will have a tough time getting out of the lower 50s with a more northerly wind, effectively ending this runs of unseasonable warmth.
