Over 100 cited in Fresno operation to keep roads safe

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Over 100 drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists were cited over the weekend during a safety operation, the Fresno Police Department announced.
On Saturday, police say they conducted a bicycle and pedestrian safety operation as part of a city-wide effort to make roads safer.
Officers say 57 out of 60 drivers contacted were cited for a variety of violations including:
Unsafe speed
Driver failure to yield
Fail to stop for a stop sign
Prohibited use of a pocket bike
Driver fails to stop for a red traffic signal
Starting or backing a vehicle in an unsafe manner
Driving a motor vehicle while holding and operating a handheld wireless communications device
Additionally, police report 92 pedestrians and cyclists were cited for violations such as:
Pedestrian failing to obey any sign or signal
Pedestrian outside of a crosswalk failing to yield to a vehicle near enough to constitute a hazard
The department says they will hold another bicycle and pedestrian safety operation on Nov. 23.
